LOCATIONS
We are happy to report that we have left Duck Key Marina and now are in two great locations, one on the ocean side and one on the bayside to better serve your boating needs!
Grass Key Marina 59073 Overseas Highway MM59 Bayside Marathon, FL
Our hours of operation are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Marina Marathon at Tarpon Creek Behind the Fairfield Inn/ Sparky’s Landing Restaurant

Operators must be at least 21 years old, have boating experience and have a valid photo ID with you. If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, you must have a boating safety license (available for free at boatus.org) there is a link on our website to take the test or look up your certificate.
-
Daily rentals can start at 8:00 am and go to 4:00 – 4:30pm. If you have the boat for multiple days, we must have the address on file where you are keeping the boat. Boats are due back by 4:30pm on the last day of your multi-day rental. If you rent a boat for multiple days and need to keep the boat at our dock, you are welcome to do so at no charge.
DELIVERY / PICK-UP: Delivery and pick up is available for your rental at a cost of $150.00; it must be scheduled in advance.
-
You may operate our boats up to ten miles offshore both bayside and ocean side. The reef is approximately 5 miles offshore. You may also go up to ten miles north or south of the Island of Marathon. If you go outside this area and run into a problem, it is up to you to get the boat back to us as we have a contract with Sea Tow for the above-described area.
There are many shallow areas in the Keys, so pay close attention to the GPS, chart and channel markers.
There are many protected marine sanctuaries where fishing or harvesting is prohibited the GPS andcharts will note this as well.
-
All boats are equipped with a GPS with a Depth Finder (your best friend down here!) We also provide you with a Top Spot Chart of the area. You must return the Top Spot Chart at the end of your rental
-
Beaching our boats is NOT ALLOWED, due to changing tides you could get grounded / stuck for hours and it is your responsibility to stay with the vessel. NO TOWING of any kind is allowed.
-
All boats are equipped with GPS and VHF radio, all USCG approved safety gear including life vests, flares, fire extinguisher, sound producing device, throwable, anchor chain and 200’ of anchor line, dive flag, cleaning brush, swim/dive flag, platform & ladder, we also have gaffs and nets if needed.
We rent fishing gear, spinning rods and conventional rods as well as tackle boxes to go with them. Our marina store sells frozen bait and ice.
We also rent snorkel gear and lily pad floats.
-
We recommend sunscreen (but please do not spray it all over the boat as it discolors the cushions), towels, water / beverages, ice, snacks, hats, rash guards, etc…We sell these items in our marina stores! Please do not wear dark colored soles on shoes on the boats as it discolors the decking on the boats! Thank you!!!
-
You pay for what you use!
-
Anyone 16 years of age and older must have a Florida fishing license which you can acquire at gooutdoorsflorida.com
-
Every boat has a T-Top or a Bimini Top for shade; bimini tops give you more shade. The T-Tops don’t have the poles and straps going to the gunwales so much better for fishing. No bathrooms on any boat due to not having the pump out facilities.
-
You may change/cancel up to two weeks prior to the start of the rental; however there will be a 5% charge of the total rental to cover our costs of booking / refunding you, after that we will refund if we can rebook the boat – if we are not able to rebook the boat, you are responsible for the full term of the rental as stated above.
-
If there is a named storm, you will be fully refunded. If there is a small craft advisory, we will not put you out for your safety and the safety of our equipment and we will try to move you to another day; if that is not possible, we will refund you.
If it is a passing shower you are held to the rental. The rental company makes the decision on weather, so if you have any questions, please call. Once you have the boat for a multi-day rental there is no refund for weather as we discount for three days or longer knowing that the weather is not always “perfect”.
-
If you damage the boat, you are responsible for the cost to repair any damage done. Please DO NOT work on our boats, if you have a problem, please call us.
If you lose an anchor or damage a prop; please call us, we have replacements in stock; do not attempt to purchase and replace with a different style of anchor or prop.
-
If the boat needs more than a light wash upon return you will be charged for the cleaning. When you have the boat for multiple days, please be sure to rinse it after each use and clean off any blood, guts, chum etc so that it doesn’t turn into concrete in the Florida sun!
-
Pets are allowed, however if they do any damage or make a mess you are responsible for cleaning it up and for paying for any damage. Please be careful with dogs claws. We recommend if you bring your pet on board that you have a floatation device for them. We do not provide flotation devices for pets.
